On the 19 of August Guaruma students received an exciting parcel from our friends from Cayman Rotary Club. The donation of five new cameras for the photography classes was received with much enthusiasm and joy. Rotary Club also donated 24 rechargeable batteries which will be very useful, as our students never stop taking photos! We would [...] Cayman Sunrise representative, Marilyn Conolly and family, visited Guaruma today, July 2nd, 2010. The Conolly family stayed at the Lodge in Pico Bonito and, after donating the Rotary’s six cameras to Guaruma (including one with underwater housing, great for shots in the river!) and a short tour of the facilities in Las Mangas, went for [...] Friday, April 30th Mr. Norman Sagastume from the Inter-America Foundation (IAF) visited Guaruma. Mr. Sagastume visited our office in La Ceiba as well as the project facilities in Las Mangas and El Pital as part of a review of Guaruma’s progress in executing the responsibilities detailed in our grant from the foundation. While in Las Mangas, [...] Monday and Tuesday, the 1st and 2nd of March, Guaruma hosted an art workshop for its students with the help of Julie Olson and Elizabeth Mini-Hoeller from the United States. The two women taught the kids how to make fabrics with nature designs using paint and organic material such as flowers and leaves.
