			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of Guaruma students from El Pital, Durkis Acosta who came back from a volunteer exchange in Austria in the begining of August, gave presentations in Las Mangas and  El Pital about her expeirience of living and working in Vienna. Durkis´s exchange was organizaed by Guaruma and ICYE and Durkis went to Austria in January 2010.<br />
Durkis presented the Jugend´s project in which she was working with children, she talked about Vienna where she lived, her daily life and travels that she made.<br />
Durkis also talked about the differences that she experienced: the cold and snow in Austria, cultural differences and communication difficulties and how she overcame those.<br />
Durkis summarized her presentation by listing the qualieties she acquired from the expeirence and how those affected her and changed her. She said that the most important thing that she gained was self-confidence and independence.</p>
<p>Guaruma is very happy to have been able to provide this unique opportunity to travel to Austria to Durkis!</p>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>On the 19 of August Guaruma students received an exciting parcel from our friends from Cayman Rotary Club. The donation of five new cameras for the photography classes was received with much enthusiasm and joy. Rotary Club also donated 24 rechargeable batteries which will be very useful, as our students never stop taking photos!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On the 12 of August a customer service workshop for home stay owners took place in El Pital. The workshop was coordinated by Selma Illa and given by herself, Marelli Zelaya and Elvia López. 16 home-stay owners from El Pital participated in the workshop, which explined the basics of excellent customer service, customer typology, housekeeping and first-aid. The workshop participants shared expieriences they&#8217;ve had with visitors and did role-plays and other activities aimed at getting a better understanding of customer-oriented service as well as simply getting to know each other better.<br />
All participants received certificates at the end of the workshop!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week, Fabrizio and a team of hardworking Guaruma students and nature tourist guides completed their beautification project of the Guaruma trail in Las Mangas. Using local materials, the group constructed and painted signs marking native Honduran trees along trail. These signs will help Guaruma guides facilitate tours for visitors to the area as well as educate the local community about their surrounding environment. Although originally from Pennsylvania, Amy has spent the past two years working in Washington, D.C. at a public relations firm. Previous to this, she also spent time in Uganda, Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer.</p>

Although originally from Pennsylvania, Amy has spent the past two years working in Washington, D.C. at a public relations firm.
