On Thursday 20th May and Friday 21st May Guaruma presented a tourism workshop at the CEUTEC-UNITEC campus in La Ceiba. The workshop was organized by Guaruma and financed by the Rainforest Alliance. The workshop’s main themes were natural and cultural heritage, conservation and sustainable tourism. Heritage-based tourism is a UNEP initiative that encourages creating tourism businesses [...] On Thursday 20th May through Sunday 23rd May Guaruma attended the annual festival of the Association of Farmers and Ranchers (AGAA: Asociación de Agricultores y Ganaderos de Atlántida) in La Ceiba. Guaruma set up a stand alongside the PROCORREDOR exhibition. We displayed post cards, calendars, posters, artisans’ products, tourist maps and information about our services and [...] On Monday 10th May Guaruma was invited to participate in a exhibition organized by the Chamber of Tourism in Central Park, La Ceiba. The exhibition was part of the celebrations for La Ceiba`s annual carnival. Guaruma set up a stand with information about our ecotourism services and education program in the Cangrejal watershed. He is helping at Guaruma with agriculture and ecotourism projects, gaining work experience in development and the environment before attending university.
