Agricultural Workshop: Part II

Monday, January 18th Guaruma completed the second part of its agricultural workshop with USAID and FHIA.  Whereas he first part of the workshop focused on environmental conservation and the theory behind various techniques, the second part was a chance to practice what we had learned.

The participants laid a grid over the land to properly space trees, learned how to construct terraces on the hillside, and planted a mango tree.  Guaruma is working on land owned by Mango Verde near El Pital and the site will eventually become an organic farm where our students and other members of the community can learn about sustainable agriculture.
